Out and About with Frank

Spring is officially here and we're taking advantage of the brighter days and warmer climes to, well, venture off to even warmer climes!

Stephen and Andy are setting off at the end of the week for Austin, Texas, representing the agency at the massive South by Southwest conference for Music, Film and Interactive. Heading out there alongside Digital Derry's Mark Nagurski, the Good Vibes team and a whole host of Northern Irish creatives, companies and musicians, it promises to be both informative, and downright good craic. More on this to follow!

Damian's also making a break for it, flying over for London's IP&TV World Forum later this month, with keynote speakers and industry heads from all corners of the ipTV world.

It's definitely shaping up to be an exciting year, and we might even have some lovely surprises for you all in the coming months - watch this space!

CITZN's First Challenge

The first call for challenges is on!

CITZN is the brainchild of Mark Nagurski (Derry's Digital Champion) and a collaboration with the team here at Frank. A brand-spankin' new crowdsourcing concept with a conscience, CITZN's mission is to help businesses and non-profits co-create solutions to real-world challenges.

We developed the CITZN brand identity around an opportunistic challenge to TAKE ON THE WORLD' - the accompanying logo and illustration represents a level playing field where ordinary people can stand up and make a difference.

We also developed the CITZN.com blog with a full website launching later in Spring 2012. In the meantime, if you head on over right now, you can suggest the first challenge for CITZN and get a chance at a £200 quid cash reward!

Better get your thinking caps on, the challenge closes on Feb 3rd.

The Shore makes the Oscar Shortlist

We're delighted to hear the news that The Shore, the short film written and directed by two-time Oscar nominated director, Terry George, has been shortlisted for an Academy Award.

The Shore was shot entirely on location just a stone's throw from George's family home and is the first production of his career to be filmed in his native Northern Ireland. Describing the film, the director notes that the story "…uniquely captures the atmosphere of rebirth and reconciliation at the heart of the new Northern Ireland."

Frank was engaged by the production team to design and develop theshorefilm.com, a simple and elegant microsite that reflects the the film's mood and central themes. To find out more about the project click here.

A massive congratulations all round with special mention to our friends and supporters of the film, Lough Shore Investments. We wish The Shore all the very best of luck with the next stage of their Oscar journey!

News brief, December

Rolling off a very busy November, the last few weeks of the year look set to be very busy for Frank’s studios.

We’re delighted to announce our ramping up of activity in Derry. Following the opening of our new studio, we received word last week that we’ve been appointed to deliver the outline digital strategy for ‘Derry-Londonderry City of Culture 2013’. We’ve also been successful in our bid to deliver a brand identity, website and moving image work for the planned music, film and interactive festival taking place in Derry in the summer of 2012.

Following our work on the web TV identity for The NI assembly, our collaborators Pi Communications have reconnected with Frank, appointing us to create a new brand identity, website and ident for their growing media production business. And finally, we’re delighted to kick-off a new project with one of Ireland’s leading architecture firms, Moloney O’Beirne on the redesign of their practice website.

With lots of new work kicking off on the right side of Christmas as well as some big announcements being lined up for the New Year, 2012 is already shaping up to be an exciting one.
